Meet Our Therapy Providers & Counselors

Kristen Pierce-Vreeke, LMFT-S
Kristen Pierce
Kristen Pierce-Vreeke, LMFT-S, is a licensed marriage and family therapist and is the Associate Vice President of Operations at The Greater Austin YMCA. She is the creator of Greater Austin YMCA Counseling, the Austin YMCA’s new mental health initiative. Prior to joining the YMCA, she served as the Executive Director of Austin Child Guidance Center, the first person of color to do so in their 70-year history.
Before moving into nonprofit leadership, Kristen spent over a decade helping couples and families curate relationships rooted in trust, collaboration, and fun. An AAMFT and Texas approved supervisor since 2011, she has supervised dozens of master’s level and provisionally licensed therapists over her 20+ year career.
Born and raised in Newton Massachusetts, she moved to Austin in 2011 with her family and currently lives in Northwest Austin with her husband and three very busy fur babies. She is the mother of two amazing adult children and loves anything to do with music and performing arts.

Simone Deloach, LMFT, LCDC
TownLake YMCA
Simone Deloach
Simone Deloach practices from the TownLake YMCA.
Simone Deloach, LMFT, LCDC is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a licensed chemical dependance counselor. She is the Associate Executive Director of Mental Health & Community Wellness at the Greater Austin YMCA. Prior to her work at the Y Simone has worked with individuals and families of autism, addiction rehabilitation centers, partial hospitalization programs (PCP’s) and private practice.
Simone enjoys learning new therapeutic skills and working towards making each therapeutic experience unique to each individual. Understanding that therapy can be an unfamiliar place to some, Simone brings a comforting environment that allows most to grow in talking about what makes them uncomfortable. As a retired athlete, she has an even deeper understanding of what it looks like to push oneself, set and reach goals, and transition from one thing to another. With those life experiences, Simone finds that growth in the therapy space includes the small wins and adjustments that leads some to a more accessible way of life. Knowing that therapy is not one size fits all but instead working on a size best fits you.
Simone Deloach is not currently accepting new clients.

Karishma Arya, Clinical Intern
North Austin & Northwest Family YMCA
Karishma Arya
Karishma is a relational counseling intern who works with individuals and couples seeking deeper understanding, stronger connection, and greater clarity in their lives and relationships. She supports clients navigating life transitions, communication challenges, relational conflict, and concerns related to intimacy, anxiety, or depression. Whether someone is rebuilding trust, exploring patterns in their relationships, or simply wanting to feel more connected to themselves or their partner, Karishma walks alongside clients with care and curiosity.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and vulnerability often comes with uncertainty. Karishma strives to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences. She values sitting with clients in what they are going through and invites them to be active participants in the therapeutic process, helping them move toward the growth, insight, and shifts they hope to create.
Karishma's work is grounded in the ideas of Virginia Satir, which emphasizes the belief that everyone has the capacity for growth and meaningful change when they feel supported and understood. She explores how early relationships shape communication, self-worth, and connection, helping clients recognize old patterns and develop more authentic and empowering ways of relating.
Karishma is currently completing her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas State University. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and an associate's degree from Austin Community College. Hook 'em!

Annie Bernard, Clinical Intern
North and Northwest Family YMCA
Annie Bernard
Annie believes the most important thing in therapy isn’t the technique — it’s the relationship. She works to build a foundation of trust, safety, and the freedom for clients to show up as themselves. From a non-judgmental and open-minded stance, Annie walks alongside clients as they cultivate self-awareness, get curious about the thoughts and stories shaping their lives, and step into who they want to be.
Annie works with clients across the lifespan, with a special passion for middle schoolers, teens, and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, identity development, self-esteem, and the messy in-between of figuring out who they are. That same care extends to the parents, neurodivergent folks, and LGBTQ+ clients she works with, and to anyone trying to make sense of who they are and how they want to move through the world.
Annie’s style is warm, grounded, and solution oriented. She draws on skills-based work for emotion regulation and distress tolerance, alongside a willingness to gently examine the thoughts and beliefs that keep us stuck. She believes therapy works best when clients are active participants in their own growth, taking ownership of the lives they want to live.
Annie is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at St. Edward’s University, a second act shaped by years of parenting teens and young adults. She believes growing up is harder than it looks, and that the work of figuring out who you are doesn’t end when you turn 18. A native Austinite with three kids in high school and college, Annie’s house is loud, full, and exactly where she wants to be — usually with two dogs underfoot, an indoor pig who pretty much runs the place, and basketball on TV. Go Spurs Go!
Annie would love to meet you, wherever you are on your journey.

Travis Cohee, Counseling Intern
Hays Communities, Springs Family & Southwest Family YMCA
Travis Cohee
Hi, welcome to my bio page, my name is Travis. I’m currently in the final year of my master’s program in Professional Counseling at Texas State University. You might be reading this to see if I’d be a good fit for you as a counselor. This is a great place to start. The truth is, not every counselor is the right fit for every person, and that’s okay. Each of us is unique, and the counseling relationship matters.
At the Greater Austin YMCA, there are many skilled counselors, and finding the right connection is important. I hope I might be a good fit for you. If what you read here connects with you, I encourage you to schedule a session so we can meet and see if it feels like a good fit.
I work with individuals and couples at any stage of adulthood navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, communication issues, and life transitions. I bring over ten years of experience supporting individuals in addiction and recovery and have a passion for helping those impacted by it, including family members. I have also spent many years mentoring men and walking alongside people through different seasons of life.
My approach is grounded in Adlerian therapy, with integration of somatic awareness and cognitive behavioral strategies. I believe people are wired for growth, connection, and purpose, and that meaningful change often begins with feeling understood and supported. I aim to create a space that is warm, non-judgmental, and honest—where you can be yourself, explore what’s going on, and be gently challenged when it’s helpful. I tailor that balance to each person and their unique needs.
If faith is an important part of your life, I’m open to incorporating a Christian perspective into our work together.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my wife and four children, writing and recording music, having meaningful conversations, and finding ways to laugh often.

Monica Cottrill, Clinical Intern
Hays Communities, Springs Family & Southwest Family YMCA
Monica Cottrill
Hi, my name is Monica Cottrill, and I am a bilingual English and Spanish speaking counseling intern passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s challenges and move toward healing and growth. My counseling approach is grounded in person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and solution-focused techniques. I believe each person has unique strengths and the capacity for change.
As a wife, mother, and member of a blended family, I recognize that relationships, transitions, and life’s stressors can be complex and significant. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout their counseling process.
I have a special interest in working with individuals and couples experiencing trauma, anxiety, grief, depression, communication challenges, relationship conflict, and life transitions. Although change is often challenging, it offers opportunities for personal growth, resilience, and stronger connections.
With my special interest in working with individuals and couples experiencing trauma, grief, relationship conflict, and life transitions, I seek to support clients meeting them where they are at with empathy, compassion, and respect.
Beyond counseling, I enjoy journaling, reading, working out, and spending time outdoors with my family. I am honored to walk alongside clients as they pursue healing, connection, and lasting change.

Emily Field, LMFT-Associate
East Communities YMCA & TownLake YMCA
Emily Field
Emily Field practices from East Communities & TownLake YMCAs.
Hello, my name is Emily, welcome to Greater Austin YMCA Counseling! Finding the right therapist can be a challenging task, and I hope we can help you along your journey!
As a therapist, I strive to create a safe and open environment where you can learn, grow, and achieve your goals. I believe counseling to be a collaborative process where we work together to discover how best to approach and address your concerns and goals. You are the expert in your own life, and I believe the most effective therapy to be one where you feel actively involved and understood throughout the process.
As an LMFT- Associate, I work with individuals, couples, and families, and I have experience working with concerns related to anxiety, neurodiversity, relational trauma, identity exploration, life transitions, and social and communication difficulties. I tend to take a skills-focused approach to therapy, as I find it important to address not only the impact of our emotions and thoughts, but also how our behaviors and actions influence and affect our lives. As a biracial Asian-American, I am passionate about working with clients struggling with cultural-relational issues.
As for me personally, I was born in Kansas but grew up here in Austin. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of North Texas and my master’s degree in counseling at Texas State University. I have a wide breadth of interests, including art, novels, music, and video games, and a particular passion for research in anthropology, psychology, and history. It is my personal belief that we should always strive to continue learning new things, so I am currently falling frequently in the process of learning to ice skate. If you are interested in working with me or have any questions, please reach out!
